Write Up:Nine PMH hikers joined at the Baldy Pass parking lot to hike 8.9km and 530 meter, over approximately 4 hours. The weather was generally sunny with cloudy periods as we wound our way through the forest, up the dry creek rock bed, through more forest with an increase of slope uphill, until a last push to the pass. Along the upper part of the trail we encountered a small bit of snow and ice – but not enough to warrant icers – and very little mud. There was a small group of friendly hikers from Banff having their lunch at the pass which we chatted a wee bit with. , we chose to sit a bit higher along the pass for lunch, so we could enjoy the views east and west. There was still quite a bit of snow cover over Midnight Peak but Mt. Baldy looked snow-free; the continuing trail (for the “point to point”) still had quite a bit of snow cover on the east side of the pass. During lunch a breeze picked up and the cloud cover increased, harkening the forecast of showers for 2pm. We were walking through the last bit of forest when those showers arrived and by the time we were at the highway they were done! All in all a great day, enjoyed by all. And to cap off our hike together, we had a lovely array of baked goods to partake in back at our cars
