Itinerary:

Meet 9:45am at Mt. Baldy parking lot on west side of Hwy #40. Be ready to hike at 10am. This out and back trail begins from the east side of Hwy #40; the trail winds through a mixed vegetation forest; at the junction of an old logging road we turn left and continue a gentle climb back and forth over a wide open, dry creek bed through a valley. We’ll cross a bridge to the right bank and the trail continues up, through a mossy spruce forest. Here the trail steadily climbs to the pass. We’ll take our time as we gain elevation – plus we’ll probably encounter some snow/ice and mud, as recent trail reports mention these. The pass is a wide bench which offers some views to the valleys in the north and west, as well as to Midnight Peak and Mt. Baldy; here we’ll find some rocks on which to sit and enjoy our lunch before our descent back to the Mt. Baldy parking lot.

From Calgary. head west on Hwy #1 and turn south on Hwy #40 for approximately 13 km to the Mt. Baldy parking lot on west side of the highway.
