Write Up:A fun day all around! Susan Chalier and Kate Baillies co-coordinated this 10 km, roughly 350m hike over a comfortable 4 hour span. We had changeable weather conditions, with fine rain in Calgary as we drove to the carpool to pick up Kathy and Shelly. At the trail head/hike start it was 3 degrees and overcast. With spikes in our packs for snow pack (just in case) we found ourselves navigating mud and clear patches, with areas of snow/ice in the treed areas of the trail. The mixed conifer and deciduous forest and on-going trail maintenance provided a very enjoyable environment to hike through. As we progressed on our hike, the cloud cover gradually shifted to periods of sun. Stopping at the trails highpoint for lunch, we could enjoy a magnificent view of Moose Mountain – which had been fully shrouded in cloud at the beginning of our hike. As we descended to the Jumping Pound section of this loop, we enjoyed warming temperatures with the clearing skies. We had a great day with many great conversations along the path! Big smiles, full hearts and cookies shared after our day together!
