Write Up:On looking out the window at a very misty mountain range with rain
forecast around 1pm we decided to go to plan B. Most of us had been
enamoured by the drive through the huge trees on the way to the lodge
the day before so it made sense to check out the Old Growth Forest
trail. We had such a lovely hike through the forest and took loads of
photos then had lunch by Island Lake. Spineback in the sunshine
looked like it would have been very doable at that point but the
heavens opened almost right on schedule as we got back to our vehicles
so we would have gotten soaked and had to contend with a steep
slippery trail had we gone with plan A. Thank you to everyone for
being so flexible. Spineback will be conquered another time.
Stats were 602km with 262m of cumulative
elevation.
