Write Up:We had a dark broody sky over Yamnuska and could see weather happening
over the Barrier Lake area to the south but we stayed dry all day, and
on the drive home too. It was a beautiful day to explore the many
trails in the area with a few variations along the way. It's hard to
follow a trail when it goes through the middle of a pond! Some of the
ponds were dry but not that one ;-)
Lots of Prairie Crocuses and early Cinquefoil. The Shooting Stars are
just starting to bloom. We saw a variety of ducks on the lakes and
heard a frog chorus at the swamp area.
A return visit is in order to check up on the progress of the flowers.
Thanks to my fellow hikers for species id and working together to find
the trail in a couple of overgrown areas.
Stats were 12.4km with 317m of cumulative elevation.
