Thank you ladies for being flexible and signing up for plan B. The weather further to the west was not promising so we stayed closer to home hiking Lesueur Ridge where we had sunshine for most of our hike. This is a great early season training hike with close to 300m of elevation gain in the first 3km - a few false summits before we actually got to the high point of the ridge. Lots of prairie crocuses to stop and admire, and catch our breath, on the way up ;-) Great views of the mountains to the west before descending a not so nice atv track down the cutline (but there are quite a few side trails off in the trees which make the descent easier on the knees). Then it's an easy undulating trail back along below the ridge to our junction and a short steep descent back to the vehicles. 9km, approx 400m elevation gain in 4 hours including a leisurely lunch. The 3km gravel road to the trailhead is rough but does not require a high clearance vehicle.
