Write Up:Destination changed to Deception Pass! (Parking at Paradise Valley
might have been difficult).
The weather was cool but reasonable, especially as we climbed up
from the Fish Creek parking lot (SE of the main lodge for Lake
Louise Ski resort) where there was plenty of room to park our six
cars. A very sociable group of three men and three women started
on the winter cross country trail then diverted onto the snow
mobile trail before we got to the Halfway Hut and had a snack.
Having got to the top of Boulder Pass, we decided unanimously to
go towards Deception Pass and went to the top.
The sights we rarely see included Ptarmigan and Redoubt Lakes and
their mountains, Baker Lake, and the Skoki Valley. The larches had
gone past their peak colour but still attractive. Worthwhile hike,
22km and 784 m gain. A good hike with equally good conversations.
