Write Up:
It was a hot one (29 degrees), but if you must hike on a hot day, Mt. Lipsett is a pretty good choice. We headed for the trees at about 9 a.m. all having found a parking spot and stayed in the trees for several hours. The boggy sections, and the accompanying insects, that were described in most of the write-ups, were there and look like permanent fixtures. However, it was well worth it. The views were spectacular and we had such a great day to enjoy them. A breeze accompanied us most of the way to the top, once we were out of the trees, and gave respite from the heat. The "peak" of Mt. Lipsett is tucked behind another bump that from a distance can be mistaken for the true peak. Hiking time was 4 1/2 hours; distance 14.8 km and elevation 750 m. Great group, wonderful scenery, a good work-out. What could be better on the first day of August.
