Write Up:
Raining in Banff with snow at 2000m but just sprinkling as we finished the car shuttle. Steady improvement in the weather as we climbed to Healy Pass. Spectacular display of wild flowers in the meadows and stunning views of the Ramparts. Clear night with a light frost on the tent but warmed up nicely as we climbed to Scarab Lake. Slopes around the lake were covered in flowers. Lunch at Whistling Pass with snow covered Mount Ball as a backdrop. Easy descent to Shadow Lake and a secluded campground behind the lodge. A steep climb early in the day to Gibbon Pass with an incredible rock glacier at the summit. Easy hike out on the Twin Lakes trail to the parking lot. Great weekend!
