Write Up:
A fabulous day for hiking on Canada Day. We had a slight shower as we were packing up in Calgary and an other one as we were getting ready to leave the Sunshine parking lot. In between it was nice and warm so the mosquitoes were out in force. After lunch on the ridge we all gathered and sang O' Canada in English which was very good but our version in French needed more practice. The flowers presented a stunning array of colors: red, blue, yellow and white and everything in between. However there was only one small bunch of glacier lilies in a sheltered spot. I would guess that all the flowers are at least two weeks early. On the good side there was not even the smallest patch of snow to step on. In all my years of coming up to Healy Pass on July 1st, this is my first time of not see fields of glacier lilies and had lots of snow to contend with. Thanks to all that came up with me to make a Great Canada Day Hike. Terry.
