The adventurouse group of 8 met at 7:30 a.m. and headed West. Despite the fog, we carried on towards the bus shuttle located 5 km east of Lake Louise. The 9:40 shuttle deposited us at Lake Morraine at 10:00. Despite the low hanging cloud that obscured the lake, we began our ascent up the switchbacks. Was it Audrey's optomistic non-packing of her umbrella or Pat's non application of sunscreen or Heather's donning of capris or just Mother Nature doing her usual I can change my mind if I want but suddenly the stunning top of the ten peaks emerged from the cloud cover and the sun make its appearance and from then on, the glory and beauty of the hike was revealed in all its Fall spendor. Picture taking ensued enroute to the lake. Lunch break commenced at 12:20 and was enjoyed until around 1:15 when we headed back down. The majestic colour of the lake was compensation on our descent as we met up with the oodles of Larch Valley hikers (some annoyingly with bear bells). It was only a short wait for the 3:30 p.m. shuttle. Due to an accident on the NW side of city, we were delayed getting back to the car pool location until 6:50. But, in summary, I think we all had another spendid day in the mountains!
