Write Up:We climbed Midnight Peak from Baldy Pass on steep scree of the North ridge. We descended via the more challenging West ridge. High cliffs and steep scree slopes fell on either side of the ridge but the ridge itself was easy scrambling. Two people climbed directly up a small tower visible also form the highway, while the rest walked around it.Below treeline we transferred to the open northwest rib covered with small cliffs and grass. When the trees closed up on us, we took a cutline to the right and reached the Baldy Pass trail about 1 km from the trailhead. The Baldy Pass trail suffered significant flood damage in its middle section but is is hikeable.
