Write Up:
It was a bit of a reunion at the trailhead as hikers greeted folks that they haven't seen in quite a while, and there was a nice mix of former PMH and Weekenders hikers out. it was a lovely day for a hike as we set off through the woods to the alluvial flats where the crossing was fairly straightforward with a couple of log bridges to help us across the deeper sections. After the climb through the woods we emerged into the meadow for the final ascent to the pass where we had lunch before heading back the way that we had come. Lots of hippies on sticks and purple asters along with a few paintbursh to keep the photographers happy. As usual, our return trip across the flats followed a different path but we made it without too much trouble. We did get a few rainshowers to accompany us on the last few km of the hike but not heavy enough to don rain jackets. The heavy downpour waited until we were on the drive down the Smith Dorrien. Thank you to everyone for taking turns at the front and for route finding through the alluvial flats, and Patrick for sweeping. It was so nice for me as a leader not to have to be at the front of the pack all day. Stats were 16.7km with 677m of cumulative elevation. Total time on trail was 6 hours.
