Write Up:
It was a cloudy start when we set off from the trailhead but the blue sky soon made an appearance. Luckily it was cooler than of late so it was a very pleasant hike up through the forest to the switchback section below the main ridge. Only one substantial pile of snow left on the trail but there was a well established shortcut to avoid the deep snow. Up on the ridge there was a beautiful sea of flowers blowing in the slightly cool wind. We walked to the rocks at the end overlooking the Jumpingpound Summit and Ridge trails for lunch where a very cheeky and rather large ground squirrel attempted to steal my hiking pole! There was a whole family mooching at us but they stayed hungry. Stats were 13.3km with 782m of cumulative elevation gain. We had a leisurely 30 min lunch so our total time on trail was 5 1/2 hours.
