The forecasted temperature was not supposed to be -19 at the trailhead but as soon as we got into the trees and started up the trail it felt much warmer. As we broke into the sunshine around the half way point we were treated to the most amazing displays of ice crystals - carpets of shimmering diamonds and sparkling creations decorated the trees - Mother Nature at her artistic best! The trails were well packed so microspikes were ideal. The xc ski trails looked in perfect condition too. By the time we completed our loop the temperature had risen to around -10 and there were lots of others out enjoying the beautiful blue sky day. Photos are posted in the photo gallery.
