Distance 8km Elevation gain 457m Total time on trail 3hrs 7mins A pleasant hike through open forest to a clearing with views to Banded Peak. There are some steep sections and one rock band, but we were able to negotiate the latter despite it being covered in ice under the snow. Micro-spikes and gaiters were necessary and snowshoes would have been handy in some sections where the snow was knee deep. This trail is also used by mountain bikers, so the ascent trail was partially compacted. There is plenty of flagging on the way up, but this becomes sparser on the way down and it was useful to consult Susan C's Alltrails map from time to time. Overall, a good, short winter hike.
