Write Up:
Although the start of the hike up an old logging road is not so inspiring, it is definitely worth doing especially if you like to explore. On this occasion, the lake was low, and, under grey skies, not as pretty as it would be on a sunny day. The trail beyond requires a little route finding and once you are above the headwall, there is no trail. We explored the right hand cirque and almost stepped on ptarmigans (twice!), saw plenty of bear digs and three tarns. We sought shelter behind a low rock wall for lunch to escape the strong and very cold wind,. Total elevation around 638m and distance around 15 km.
