Left Calgary 7:30, trailhead 9:10, Headwall creek 10:10, lunch above Upper Lake 11:50, the col 1:00, stormy, so skipped second lunch, Chester Lake 2:30, return 3:30, Calgary 5:20. We had many dropouts due to a bear warning and adverse trail conditions. The 7 hikers we had made good time in spite of the bridge being out on Headwall Creek. One member fell off the log crossing and returned to his vehicle. The crossing was improved by adding a plank from the old bridge. A better crossing might be found upstream. There were washouts on the lower Headwall valley, with new trails around. An alternate route over the talus bypassing a badly washed out section of the old informal trail was used by another group and accomplished in about the same time. Don Wilson
