On a beautiful sunny Saturday we headed off to winter hike up to Rummel Lake. It wasn't long before we realised that we should have brought the snowshoes! The warm weather of late has made the snow very soft and we were post holing as deep as the length of our legs - there's still a lot of snow up in the mountains! So, reluctantly, in the interests of safety and knowing that it would be even worse in the afternoon we turned around. All was not lost as we drove up to the Mount Shark trailhead and enjoyed our lunch in the sun at a picnic table - which also post holed at my end as I sat down at it - no more chocolate for me ;-)
