Write Up:
We started the hike in the rain. The weather forecast called for sunny skies and before long the wind shifted and we had blue sky above our heads while the bad weather hovered just to the west of us. Giselle, a lost soul who missed her hiking group of Slow and Steady joined us at the trailhead and stayed with us to the very end. The Slow and Steady Hikers are not slow at all and neither was Giselle. The south ridge was dry but as we approached the col we encountered muddy sections. The col area was very windy as was the summit but otherwise we were sheltered from the wind. The trail from the col along the eastern slopes all the way to the summit was covered with a thin layer of new snow. While the trail was not slippery, except for a couple of spots, some people did not feel comfortable and put on traction devices. Despite the challenges posed by the weather, wind, and snow all participants reached the summit. Peter Minarik
