Write Up:
We had great weather for the second annual Mist Mountain Hot Springs trip. It was partly cloudy with temperatures in the high teens - low 20's. Our group of 10 splendid PMH hikers were treated to a good show of wildflowers on the hike up to the top of the col and onto the faint trail on the scree slopes below. The route down the scree was not well defined or easily discernible at times and despite having the precise GPS route on my device, at the stream, I saw what appeared to be a trail and took it. This turned out to be a mistake. But after a small amount of bushwacking, we were back on track and we reached the hot springs a short time later. Some of us hopped into the two small pools clinging to the slopes and took in the views while others lay back to take it all in. We were joined a short time later by a couple of scramblers who had just finished summeting Mist Mountain and another two young men who we had seen on top of the col on our way in. After an hour of chatting and enjoying the springs it was time to make our way back to the cars. All-in-all, it was great day in the mountains with the PMH. James Baillies
