Write Up:On a very warm and sunny day, with temperatures 28-30 C. Fourteen fearless hikers set out to the mountain gem, Lake Rae. It was an 18 km loop past Elbow Lake then Elbow trail and onto Sheep trail and then to lovely lake Rae for lunch. Water was cool and refreshing for our feet.
There was beautiful vistas including lingering snow on Mt Rae. Early flowers graced the drumlin hills around us. This hike evolved into a loop trail of about 500 m elevation and 18 km, not the 12 km mentioned in the PMH Big Book of hikes. A grizzly was sighted by one lucky car full of hikers. Great Day!
