Write Up:Well it was quite the day. The morning was snowing and blowing and the first question was, who has snow tires. I mean afterall it is only Thanksgiving! Thankfully Julie had 4 wheeldrive and all weather tires so off we went! The trail was slick with new snow so having gaiters and hiking poles definitely helped. It snowed off an on throughout the day. Unlike the weekend before, the leaves were now off the trees and winter was setting in. The cloud cover meant reduced visibility which was sad a the ridge is absolutely stunning in the sun. Discussed the possibility of this trail as a snowshoe and also to take the lower trail farther towards the Ghost - apparently it can go on for quite a long way. Although the websites reference taking a cutline - the leader had taken the cutline and it was unimpressive with no views. Instead there is a trail slightly lower down that gives fabulous views and a good trail and joins up with the lower trail. Definitely recommended. Left Calgary at 9am, arrived at trailhead at 10:30am. Got back to the cars at 2:00 and Calgary at 3:30PM. A nice short day that, despite the weather, we all appreciated getting fresh air and exercise and being in the company of good friends.
