From the Burstall Pass trailhead, follow the trail to Burstall Pass (avoiding the two left forks near the trailhead) and walk to 11 U 617163; 5626462 a distance of about 3.5km. Then turn left (southward) walking up a valley containing a stream, flowers and larches for another 3.1km to the summit of a ridge at 11 U 617945; 5623647. Overlook French Creek and French Glacier, with a peephole view of Robertson Glacier to the right of Mt. Robertson. Total elevation gain 600m. Return the by same route for a road-trip distance of 13.6km. Some sidehill and rocky sections, in addition to a rocky (but not steep) slope below the ridge-top. Strong hiking boots recommended. Bear spray is advised for this almost unknown and little traveled trail. While GPS coordinates are given, GPS navigation is not required, so long as one turns left at the correct place. Avoid an earlier left turn (providing access to the summit of Mt. Burstall) approximately 0.5km before the correct one. If you have reached the bike rack you have come a little too far. Once in the valley the destination cannot be missed.
