Expanded the number to 15 hikers so that everyone on the waiting list was able to participate. We found the Eyrie Gap picnic area is closed and I recommend future hikes to Gunnery Creek park at the Sentinel Picnic area. The weather was perfect for hiking as we progressed up Gunnery Creek. However, when we got to the Pass and started up the Ridge we could see the storm clouds over Mount Mann and the North Ridge of Mount Burke. The temperature dropped as we headed up to the high point on the Ridge where we stopped for lunch. By this time storm clouds were coming in from the Highwood Range to the north and the system to the South seemed to be moving very slowly and we could hear thunder at both locations. Because of the weather I decided to abort the descent down the ridge and descend to the Grass Pass trail back to the highway. We had some rain but the two systems missed us. After the hike everyone went to the Rustic Artisan Coffee shop in Longview. Great group to hike with.
