Write Up:
It was a beautiful weather day. A bit of excitement very near the top of Guinn's pass in the form of a grizzly rambling through the low vegetation. We had seen diggings and scat on the way up past Galatea lakes. Talking to three young gals who had come over the pass from the other side they were surprised by the bear but it kept a distance away from them. We did not continue up to the pass but retreated. I reported the bear sighting (1-403 591-7755) and was told it was the third report on the bear. The top of Guinn's pass is a popular lunch spot with day hikers and backpackers.
