Write Up:
There were 12 hikers for this hike. Unfortunately 5 folks were delayed by traffic, a bicycle tour and highway construction. The first 7 hikers left the gate at 09:45 and were led astray to the tune of 4-5 kilometers. Mea culpa. Part way back to the parking we picked up on a trail that headed to the proper hiking route. There were 2 ascent routes to chose from, the steep and the less steep. We chose the steep route up and the shallow route coming down. Thanks to several hikers to get us on the right path. Special thanks to Larry for helping Gerry for the last 60m. vertical or so to get to the top. Once at the Lookout we were greeted by super friendly dog and the and his master. The sky was virtually clear and spectacular views were there for everyone's enjoyment. Some photos will be downloaded to the club's website. The shallow route added about 3 kms. to the descent, the extra distance was well worthwhile. So the total distance was in the order of 17 kms. for the day for the group of seven. The other five hikers were led by Steve Bodie. While these 5 hikers arrived later than us, they also took a preliminary excursion, they arrived at the top about 25 minutes before the first group. It was supposed to be just a hike but turned into an adventure. Gerry does this more often that he would like to admit. Anyways everyone has a great time and felt it was worth the effort. Cheers, Gerry
