Write Up:
The hike to Guinn Pass was incredible. It was the first day that Galatea was open to hikers and there was a steady stream of hikers to the lakes though there were fewer to the pass. The new trail is not as grueling as the old trail once was. We marveled at the work it would take to design and build such a magnificent approach to the Pass. The weather cooperated and though there were a few sprinkles of rain and threat of snow, it was all very manageable. We saw the devastating effect of a recent avalanche with the tree tops sheered off and the resulting debris. It took us 7 1/4 hours to complete the hike.
