Write Up:
The plan was to hike Forgetmenot Ridge. The road into the Little Elbow Campground was blocked and a flashing sign announced that no one was to enter and that fines applied. We decided to hike Powderface since the trailhead was right there. At the big hill (with the flag on top) we made our way up the hill for a fantastic view (as if it wasn't fantastic enough). Instead of the usual route (to the right of the cairn) we climbed up to the ridge along an established trail to the left of the cairn. This allowed a whole hour of ridge walking among the black, green and white spotted boulders. Ate lunch in the trees as a brisk wind came up, then down the usual way. It was a glorious fall day-a bit chilly at times, but also with bright sunshine. We loved the hike even if it wasn't Forgetmenot Ridge.
