Write Up:We had an exhilarating, refreshing hike to the Galatea Lakes. There
was indeed a mix of sun and cloud as the weather network promised.
There were 4 intrepid hikers that had all the necessary clothing for
the sometimes bitter wind and snowflakes that accompanied it. There
was a bear warning sign at the trail-head, but I assure you, the
laughter and loud conversation would have warned any bear within
several kilometers. We saw few other hikers on the trail-half a dozen
or so. We did cross a very short avalanche. We did not bring our
icers, but agreed that icers would be standard equipment for the rest
of the season. We saw a smattering of larches in full golden dress and
an Inukshuk on a large rock at the 2nd Galatea Lake. Wonderful day!
Great company!
