Write Up:Twelve hikers traveled up to Grizzly Col and then onto Grizzly Ridge under sunny skies ans clear visibility. High today was 23
C at the col with a gentle breeze blowing. Lots of wildflowers. The highlight was a group of 13 male bighorns close to us on
the ridge. After lunch we ventured down the ridge for about 1.5 km and then started our trip back to the col. Instead of
retracing our steps back up to the top of Grizzly Ridge, we (meaning me) decided to traverse the scree slope keeping a
contour level with the pass. Big mistake! We should have worked our way back up the ridge to a well defined trail. The
scree turned out to be too steep with no defined path. It was slow going and not very pleasant. Although there was
discussion about lynching the coordinator, being good Canadians, they let it go and we all happy made are way down from
the col to our cars. All in all, a superb day (despite the traverse)!
