Write Up:
Easy hike into Baker Lake. Sunny and warm starting out but clouds were building up as we hiked below Deception Pass. Just managed to set up our tents before rain storm. Spent an hour or so waiting out the storm but we were able to enjoy our dinner and explore the area. Mosquitos and horse flies were out in full force. On Thursday we hiked along Oyster Creek to Red Deer Lakes, then turned west on Little Pipestone Creek to the Skoki Junction then climbed to Merlin Valley and back over Deception Pass to our camp site at Baker Lake. Just finished dinner as the first drops of rain fell; we were in our tents by 8:30, listening to the thunder echo through the valley. Woke to a beautiful blue sky and the call of the loons on Baker Lake. Fast hike out to Fish Creek parking lot.
