Write Up:
The sky was overcast but the temperature perfect as a dozen hearty hikers started off to Baldy Pass in a tight group because of the bear warnings. On our ascent to the pass a light rain began, which then became heavier. We stopped to add rain gear, but soon stopped for some to remove rain gear. At the pass, we continued up the trail for a short distance to the open ridge and a viewpoint for our lunch. We found shelter under some trees but because we were a bit wet, lunch time was chilly. The rain had made the rocks and roots on the rough trail a bit tricky on the descent. However, a couple of young men wearing Converse runners; no gear, no rain jackets, went running past us down the trail like mountain goats. We all arrived safely in the valley and hiked out. In spite of the rain, a good day in the mountains. Shirley & Lynn
