Despite the cold weather and snow, the hike up Larch Valley was magical. The larch trees were in their full glory. We spent hours taking in the beauty. Words like healing, stupendous, awesome, and blessed were repeated. The lesson from this hike is don't let a bit of cold weather and snow in September, keep you from a hike. Day 2-we ditched the crowds and went to Emerald Lake and hiked into the Emerald lake Basin. A steady climb into a bowl with 3 waterfalls and spectacular geography.
