Eight hikers completed the trip over Sentinel Pass down to the Giant Steps and out Paradise Valley in perfect sunny (and warm) weather conditions. We were on the trail by 9:15 having left Valley Ridge by 7:00 am. We spotted one car at Paradise parking lot and drove to the trail head at Moraine Lake. Hiking time was just over 7 hrs., arriving back at the cars at approximately 4:45 pm. The lack of many wildflowers in Larch Valley was a bit disappointing, but we were very pleased that the north side of Sentinel Pass was free of ice and a snow as we picked our way through the rocks and boulders to reach the valley floor. We partnered up with two young hikers from Italy and Austria who wanted to complete the trip over Sentinel Pass. Cliff was kind enough to shuttle them back to Moraine Lake. All in all, another great day in the mountains!
