Hiking through this vast expanse of lush green meadows dotted with bright and cheery wildflowers, interspersed with lovely lakes all the while surrounded by inspiring peaks and ridges is my idea of heaven and so it was. The 'opinionated people' in their guide book gave it a "Premier/4 boot rating' and I agree. The stunning beauty make one almost forget the efforts required to tackle the undulating 700m+ elevation gain. Weather wise we had it all. There were cloudy skies, soaking rain, howling winds, driving hail (as we hunkered down in the trees for lunch) followed by warm sun on our home stretch to catch the bus. We were thrilled by the sighting of a young mountain goat bounding along the meadow and up over the hill. In keeping with a theme most of us topped the day off with a tasty supper and lively conversation at the Iron Goat in Canmore. Pat and I really enjoyed the wonderful camaraderie of all who chose to join this most memorable hike to Citadel Pass.
