Itinerary:

Hike through gently rolling prairie hills awash in spring flowers with great views of the now snow-clad main ranges. Similar to last years’ trek led by Susan Chalier, we will park at the Sheep River Administration and Information Building in Sheep River Provincial Park (3km west of the boundary sign for Kananaskis Country on Highway#546). Out buildings are available. Our trail starts behind the Station on a portion of the Macabee Loop through a mossy forest to an access point for the High Noon Hills trail across the highway. We will continue on the the easterly side of the loop down to a small picturesque waterfall along the Sheep River for lunch and likely return via the same route. Ticks are prevalent this time of year although recent reports indicate no problems with the pests on this trail. Best to take precautions regardless. From the SW city limits, take Hwy #22X west for 18km, turn south on Hwy #22 and drive to the town of Diamond Valley. At the main intersection, turn right onto HWY#549 and follow passed the Kananaskis Country boundary sign 3 km further to the Sheep River Administration and Information Station. Ample parking at the station
