Itinerary:

Hike through a lovely preserve of old-growth Spruce and Aspen forest near Millarville. Low-lying areas support wetland vegetation in a series of marshes. The park was donated by Home Oil in the 1960s and is named for two of Alberta’s oil pioneers. I’ll choose a trail appropriate to the PMH group who signs up – Brown-Lowery is a great system of trails with a variety of options just a half hour drive SW of our city limits. We’ll be hiking through a mixed treed forest and include hiking up to the look-off on the west of the trail system, which gives an incredible view of the mountains and city of Calgary. Because it is a holiday Monday + the parking lot is so small, I am posting the hike for 9:30 + having a south carpool for those who prefer less hassle.

From the SW city limits, take Hwy #22 west for 18km, turn south on Hwy #22 and drive 6.2km to Plummers Road, turn left or west and drive to the “T” intersection, turn left or south on 240 St W and continue approximately 7.5-8 km to Brown-Lowery Provincial Park. Park in the small parking lot on the left side of the road.
