Itinerary:

Starting at the Middle Lake Parking Lot in Bow Valley Provincial Park, we will do a loop around Middle Lake before heading out on Elk Flats Trail. We’ll then do a loop of the Many Springs Trail (as long as it is dry), then a short jaunt on Whitefish Trail to the picnic area on the Bow River. Here we will have a lunch break and enjoy the views and maybe the swans across the river. From here we will follow the Bow River Trail, turning onto Moraine Trail just past the Bow Valley Campground, going past the Amphitheatre to rejoin the Middle Lake Trail back to the Parking Lot. Expect 3 – 3.5 hours total, including stops and lunch break. There are outdoor toilets at the trail head and at the lunch spot.

How to Get There:

Event Directions:

Take the #1 Highway west from Calgary. Not too far past the Hwy 40 exit, take exit 114 right toward Seebe, but as soon as you are going straight on the 1X, take a left turn into Bow Valley Provincial Park (it comes up quickly and the sign is sometimes hard to spot). Follow this road for about 5 km to the Middle Lake Parking Lot on your left (clearly marked). Driving time: about 50 minutes from NW Calgary city limits.
