Itinerary:
Quoting from the Southern Rockies Trail Guide - 'the dramatic alpine setting of these pristine lakes in their picturesque basin is ample reward for those hardy souls who make this short but very steep trek'. The hike starts off with 2km of easy hiking before climbing steeply up to Barnaby Ridge (500m in just 3km). The travel then becomes easier to the first of the three Southfork Lakes. The plan is to check out all three lakes and also the larches which are above the lakes. Time on trail including breaks will be approx 5 1/2 - 6 hours. This hike is predominantly for those signed up for the multi day trip but if it isn't full you are welcome to join us for the day, or even better stay the night. Note that there is no longer a river crossing at the start of the hike as there has been a bridge put in place - yeah! No freezing cold feet ;-)
