Itinerary:
It's been few years since I have been up to Headwall Lakes so it's time for a revisit. Starting from the Chester Lake trailhead we follow the old xc ski trails now snowshoe trail system for the first hour, approx 4km. After crossing the Headwall Creek bridge we turn onto a smaller trail in the forest and start climbing to the first headwall below the lower lake. Then we have another headwall to ascend to get to the upper lake where we can wander the east shore. The Fortress dominates the head of the valley. Expect 6-7 hours on the trail.
