Itinerary:

This hike follows the Big Hill Springs Creek north, through the park and then through land owned by a retreat, (available for public use). On the way we will pass an interesting spot know as the Grandfather Tree. We will follow the trail until we hit private land. The trail is very attractive but has many roots across the trail to be aware of. On occasions deer and moose may be seen here. Our return journey will take us predominantly on the East side of the valley and we gain a higher viewpoint. Please have good footwear as the trail could be muddy .

Follow Highway 1A into Cochrane. Immediately after the construction turn right into the Cochrane Ranch parking lot (there is a small blue sign just before the turn off). Park at the western end. Allow about 25 minutes from Calgary's western limits. NOTE. If you reach Highway 22, you have gone too far.
