Itinerary:

This is a pleasant hike that will take us about 1.8 km past the ink Pots, avoiding the crowds in Johnston Canyon. The only busy section should be the 3 km between the junction with the trail from Johnston Canyon and the Ink Pots. When I did the hike last week with a friend, we saw nobody before that junction and only a few backpackers after the Ink Pots. There is a lovely lunch spot just past Larry's Campground along an unnamed creek that flows into Johnston Creek. The hike should take 5.5 to 6 hours, getting us back to Calgary before dinner.

Take the Trans-Canada Highway to the Highway 93/Castle Junction turnoff. Turn right there and drive the short distance to the Bow Valley Parkway (Highway 1A). Turn right again and drive 4 km. to the Moose Meadows parking lot on the left. You will pass another Moose Meadows parking lot on the right - don't go there.
