Itinerary:
Vehicles going into High Noon Hills will require a K-Country Park Pass. Payment for the pass, if any, should be based on the daily pass as opposed to an annual pass. This hike is being done with Naturalist John McFaul. We will be stopping first at the Ship River Interpretive Center for a bathroom break. If anyone wants to drive directly from their home you can meet us there. We will leave the Centre to go to the hike trail head at 9:50. I am anticipating 2 to 2.5 hrs hike depending on break times and interest in flora & fauna. Great area for both. From the trailhead we will hike at a moderate incline (total elevation is approx 150') through pine woods with Calypso Orchids to the top of a ridge and then steeply down a grassy slope to catch a trail that contours to the east and then south to the overlook of the Sheep River with great views west to the mountains. This portion of the hike will be through flowery meadows and groves of Aspen trees. We will follow more or less the same route coming back, with the option of going around the steep grassy slope that we came down
