Itinerary:

Quoting from the Southern Rockies Trail Guide - 'the dramatic alpine setting of these pristine lakes in their picturesque basin is ample reward for those hardy souls who make this short but very steep trek'. The hike starts off with a crossing of the West Castle river before climbing steeply up to Barnaby Ridge before dropping slightly towards the first of three lakes. If this hike is full please add yourself to the waitlist and we will arrange for two groups to head out from the trailhead.

Required Items to Bring:
Good hiking boots, bearspray, layers (it's getting chilly in the mountains)

Be at the trailhead at 9.15, ready to hike at 9.30am From Pincher Creek drive west on h’way 507, turn left onto h’way 774. Drive approx 23km and turn left on a signed road 5003. Small parking area is short distance down the road. (Google map Southfork Lakes Trailhead) Drive time 35 min

Notes:

This hike is paired with the Table Mountain hike which is scheduled for Thursday Aug. 19th. If the weather is poor on the Thursday, Table Mtn will be rescheduled for the Friday and Southfork will be held on the Thursday.
