Itinerary:

We start on the Windy Point trail to access Foran Grade in a clockwise direction. It is a gradual climb up to the ridge, which provides spectacular views to the west. After we drop down off the ridge we continue back to the highway, which we cross to use the Sheep Trail to return to the cars. We will be going at a moderate pace. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start so we can start walking at 09:30

Hwy. 546 takes off west of Hwy. 22 at Turner Valley. The hike starts from a parking lot on the left (south) side of the road 3.3 kms past the winter gate closure at the Sandy McNabb Recreation Area. Look for a spot where the road widens to allow parking on the south side. It is about a one hour drive here from the city.

Notes:

Look for the parking lot on the left side of Hwy 546, 3.3 kms west of the winter gate closure at the Sandy McNabb Recreation Area. Stop at the Sheep River HQ parking lot on the way by to use the outhouse because there are no facilities in our parking lot.
