Itinerary:

Leave Assumption School at 8:45 and meet at the Barrier Lake parking are at 9:30 AM. We will all drive in a convoy to park half of the cars at the end of the trail about a kilometer from Barrier Lake. We will then all get into the other half of the cars and drive to the Baldy Pass parking area about 5 km farther South. We will hike up to Baldy Pass and keep going over the pass to come out by the cars near Barrier Lake. We will then drive back to pick up the cars at the Baldy Pass parking area.

From the Trans Canada HW-1 drive 9 km South on AB-40 Kananaskis highway and turn right into the Barrier Lake parking area.

You have probably hiked to Baldy Pass and back many times. This time we will keep hiking past Baldy Pass and hike a route that take us down to near Barrier Lake. I called it EXPLORATORY because I have not done this route before. The views of Barrier Lake and the mountains on the way down are supposed to be excellent.
