Itinerary:

This high alpine loop adventure will take us across a cross-section of the Park’s different terrain and vegetation as well as past 2 alpine lakes, Forum Lake and Wall Lake. This hike is considered challenging. The total distance travelled is 18.3 km, hence a long day. From the trailhead there is an elevation of 975 metres. Also, there is a steep slope and a 5-metre rock band between Forum Lake and Wall Lake that must be negotiated before proceeding to Akamina Ridge. Only those hikers that are comfortable with negotiating such a feature should consider this hike. Hiking will be done at a moderate pace with many rest and photography breaks as needed. Bring lots of water!

Required Items to Bring:
Lots of water! Lunch and snacks. Hiking poles as it can be quite windy on the ridge. Rain gear (in case).

We will meet at the Bear Mountain Motel in Waterton at 7:15 AM. From the motel we will take the Akamina Parkway and head up 14.8 km to a parking lot on the left side of the road. This trailhead is popular for the Forum Lake, Wall Lake, and Akamina Ridge hikes. From the parking lot we will cross the road and make our way to the Akamina Pass trailhead.
