Itinerary:

In the past, the Memorial Lakes hike was "brushy, rocky, rooty and narrow". But now there is an actual trail that is a steady uphill. The trail beyond the first lake to the turquoise middle lake is moderately difficult. To get to the third lake there is a short scramble which is well worth the challenge. Memorial Lakes is in memory of 13 people who died in three separate plane crashes. Check out the history in Gillian Daffern's Volume 1 p. 84.

Event Directions:

Kananaskis Trail (Hwy 40). Turn west onto the Kananaskis Village road. Turn first left onto Centennial Drive, then next right onto Ribbon Creek Road. Drive past the Kananaskis Wilderness Hostel to the upper Ribbon Creek Parking lot at the end of the road.
