| Note: I have only done this twice, so there may be some trail finding involved. Distance and elevation is approximate (depends how much we explore at the top). Moderate pace with brief breaks as required. The trail starts on a logging road and then switches to a trail which undulates at the edge of larch meadows strewn with boulders and then descends to a small lake. The trail to the cirques continues to the right of the lake, heading uphill, across some scree into alpine meadows. There are two cirques to visit. My goal is to visit both. The left one is long and stony pitted with sinks and two small tarns. The right one is the more attractive. To get there either climb over the large grassy hill, use the gap to its left or traverse around the hill to the right into a large area of meadow where innumerable tiny creeks from melting snow gather. There is a beautiful tarn in a green and white setting of grass and limestone pavement. A string of shallow tarns can be followed up valley to a deeper pool hidden within the moraines of the valley head. This will be a full day hike as I intend to take my time and enjoy the day!! The forecast is 28 and sunny so the views should be great (hopefully no smoke). | |||||||

| How to Get There: | |||||||
| Event Directions: | The trail starts at Sawmill day-use area on Hwy. 742 (Smith-Dorrien/Spray Trail). Hoping to arrive at approximately 9:30 and be on the trail around 9:45. | ||||||
